The Debt Management Plan does allow clients to purchase or refinance a home while participating. When the time comes, please contact Customer Care at 1-800-CARE-123 to request a loan letter which you can use to show a lender your participation in the plan. This will also include a payment history and a repayment schedule. This should help to show voluntary participation and closure of your credit cards.
Keep in mind some lenders want to see at least one year of payment history on the plan and your final approval is based on your overall financial profile.
we just tried to refinance our mortgage and the bank won't even talk to us until we are out of the program
I am sorry, many times it may be more that the plan itself. Some lenders have stated this to clients and the client will cancel the plan and still not be approved. We would be happy to provide our loan letter if you believe it will help.
